Join them on their seasonal activities like bee keeping, wine making, goat keeping, farming, picking greens and wild herbs, olive picking, Tsikoudia distillation, spear gun fishing, cooking, eating and drinking socializing with other locals and relatives.  Let the Baladakis family take you around and show you the delights of their village life as well as the main sights of the western Crete area. Be prepared to taste some of the best Cretan cuisine and try real food fresh from nature. Taste Cretan olive oil with a fruity taste, the sweetest tomatoes ever, greens from the garden and the mountains, heather honey, goats milk and cheese from Yiannis's goats, fish and lobster from the sea there caught on the day, herbal tea from the mountains and much more. Join Yiannis and his friends on his village gatherings and pilgrimage festivities in mountain chapels. Watch them sing, dance and have a go yourself. Our land, the seaside village of Sfinari is a very pretty corner of Crete still undiscovered by mass tourism and completely out of the way. But this is not only a Cretan cultural tour. You will also be given the chance to visit the most beautiful beach in Crete (Falasarna) which is 10 Km down the road and the archeological site there. Go by boat to the Island of Gramvousa with the Venetian fortress and swim in beautiful Balos bay. Also a trip to an organic farm up the mountains and a trip to Chania city to see the beautiful old Venetian town and harbour. Your host Nikos will talk to you about the history of each place. This is not just a holiday with us but a gastronomic excursion around simple and tasty Cretan food. You simply join the local's way of life, one that ignores the fast modern western rat race. Life in this part of the world goes on slowly and Cretans really take their time in enjoying life as it comes spending a lot of time socializing with their families, relatives and friends, eating and drinking.
